Scottish Highlands Golf Trip - Royal Dornoch

A Golfing Adventure to the Scottish Highlands

Last weekend we embarked on an unforgettable golf trip to the Scottish Highlands and the historic Royal Dornoch Golf Club. Our experience was nothing short of extraordinary, and we're excited to share the highlights of our trip.

Royal Dornoch Golf Club, founded in 1877, is renowned as one of the world's premier links courses. The rugged coastal terrain and ever-changing weather conditions provides a challenging yet exhilarating backdrop for golf. The undulating fairways, deep bunkers, and swift greens showcase the true essence of traditional Scottish links golf.

The jewel in the crown was undoubtedly the Championship Course, where every swing was accompanied by breathtaking views of the Dornoch Firth. The course's rich history and impeccable maintenance elevated our golfing experience, leaving an indelible mark on our memories. After golf we were welcomed into the clubhouse for a delicious lunch and a wee dram to finish off.

But the adventure didn't stop there. Golf enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the array of exceptional courses that surround Royal Dornoch. Brora Golf Club, located just a short drive away, offers a delightful mix of heathland and links-style golf. The course's distinct character, coupled with stunning views of the North Sea, makes it a must-play for those exploring the region.

For those seeking a challenge, Tain Golf Club provides a stern test of skill with its mature parkland layout. The backdrop of the Dornoch Firth adds a touch of natural beauty to this course, making it a well-rounded addition to any golf itinerary.

Cabot Highlands, formerly Castle Stuart, stands proudly on the Moray Firth on the outskirts of the city of Inverness. From infinity edge greens to rumpled fairways, natural bunkers, and spectacular open views Castle Stuart is a ‘must play’ championship course whilst in the Scottish Highlands

After an exhilarating day on the links, golfers can unwind at the 5 Star Links House, conveniently located next door to Royal Dornoch Golf Club. The hotel's classic charm and modern amenities create a perfect blend of comfort and luxury, offering a welcome respite after a day of golfing adventures. Mara Restaurant at Links House offers the best of Scottish Hospitality and gourmet gifts from Scotland’s waters, fields, Forrests and Skies, presented with minimal interruption.

In conclusion, our recent golfing escapade to Royal Dornoch and its neighboring courses was a trip filled with excitement, challenge, and natural beauty. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a casual enthusiast, this corner of Scotland promises an unforgettable golfing experience that will linger in your memory long after the final putt drops.
