This spring, we are incredibly proud to celebrate a milestone that embodies all three: the 10th anniversary of our exclusive partnership with St Andrews Links, the world-renowned Home of Golf.
For a decade, we have had the distinct honour of creating a bespoke collection of luxury Harris Tweed® golf accessories for the St Andrews Links retail shops and online store. This partnership is more than just a business collaboration; it is a shared dedication to preserving Scottish heritage, supporting Scottish weavers, and delivering unparalleled quality to golfers across the globe.
The Fabric of The Home of Golf: An Exclusive St Andrews Links Harris Tweed®
To mark this partnership, we developed a truly unique cloth: a hand-woven Harris Tweed® created exclusively for St Andrews Links. This isn’t just any fabric; it is a textile representation of the iconic St Andrews Links tartan, reflecting the colours of the famous links course.
The design captures the essence of the Links - the deep blue of the North Sea, the rich green of the fairways, and the gold of the sandy bunkers and iconic West Sands Beach running along the boundary of the famous links course.
From Fields to Fairways
The journey of our St Andrews Links Harris Tweed® Collection begins in the rugged, beautiful landscape of the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Woven from 100% pure New Wool from Cheviot sheep, the wool is washed, dyed, and spun on the Outer Hebrides, ready for weaving. In keeping with centuries-old weaving traditions, our exclusive tweed is hand-woven by skilled islanders in their own homes on traditional Hattersley looms. Once complete, the raw tweed is collected from the weaver’s home and taken to the mill for finishing and, finally, after careful inspection, stamped with the iconic ‘Harris Tweed Orb’.
The rhythmic sound of the loom is a testament to a craft that has remained unchanged for generations. The ‘hand-woven’ designation is not just a label; it is a guarantee of authenticity that these traditions have been followed in the making of the cloth.
Once the Harris Tweed® is woven and inspected, it makes its way from the islands to our workshop in Central Scotland.
